DR. JOYCE KONG

Post Doctoral Resident

Dr. Joyce Kong was born and raised in the city of Philadelphia, PA. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at West Chester University. She received her M.S. in Clinical and Counseling Psychology at Chestnut Hill College and continued on to earn her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) with a concentration in psychological assessment. Dr. Kong completed her predoctoral internship at Tuttleman Counseling Services at Temple University, providing psychotherapy and assessment to undergraduate and graduate students. Her doctoral dissertation qualitatively explored the quarter-life crisis experiences of Asian American college graduates. Dr. Kong has received training in various settings, including college counseling centers, community mental health, and clinical and forensic private practice. During her training, she has worked with a wide range of clients and presenting concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship issues, ADHD, self-esteem issues, and identity exploration and development (cultural, gender, sexuality, etc.). 

 

Dr. Kong provides psychological assessments and psychotherapy. She takes an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from psychodynamic, systemic, and relational-cultural perspectives. Dr. Kong emphasizes a collaborative therapeutic relationship that is tailored to the client’s needs, and the focus is on fostering personal growth and healing. She is committed to providing a supportive space for clients to process challenging life experiences, explore sociocultural factors and identities that may intersect with those experiences, and gain insight into their interpersonal patterns.

 

More personally, Dr. Kong loves cooking, traveling and exploring new places, going to the beach, playing fantasy football, binge-watching TV shows, and being active.
