DR. ALEXANDRA VANDEGRIFT
Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Alexandra Vandegrift was born and raised in the Montgomery County/Philadelphia area. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and biology from Temple University in 2013. She then completed her master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology with a concentration in diverse and underserved communities from Chestnut Hill College, and continued on to earn her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in psychological assessment. Dr. Vandegrift has received training in a variety of settings including juvenile justice, family court, crisis, college counseling, clinical and forensic private practice, and outpatient settings. Dr. Vandegrift has particular experience working with adolescents and young adults, as well as specialized training working with those who have experienced psychological trauma.
Dr. Vandegrift takes an individualized approach to working with clients. She emphasizes the therapeutic alliance and believes that a warm and collaborative relationship helps to create a safe space to establish trust and work towards meaningful change. She has a flexible approach that utilizes a Psychodynamic model combined with Dialectical Behavioral techniques and informed by multicultural and systemic approaches. Dr. Vandegrift additionally has experience administering psychological, psychoeducational, and forensic evaluations for a variety of services. She has familiarity with a number of testing instruments to best address any identified concerns.
When not working, Dr. Vandegrift enjoys spending time with family, surfing, writing westerns, playing with her border collie, and endlessly reading. She also loves traveling, as well as movies and anime.
